Welcome to the Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust

We aim to promote distinctive, inclusive communities of learning that seek to be underpinned by Christian values sourced in the Gospel narrative, enriching the whole educational experience. We aspire to excellence; to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people, enabling them to fulfil their potential and make a worthwhile contribution to our diverse, dynamic society.

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint"

Isaiah 40:31

A Warm Welcome from the CEO

A warm welcome to the website for Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust.

We are committed to ensuring our schools work together, sharing their strengths, to provide a great education for every pupil. We believe learning must be engaging and relevant and develop the whole child. Our schools design their coverage of the curriculum to provide challenging and exciting learning experiences in a caring and nurturing environment which is based on our strong Christian values. Our schools value every individual and celebrate differences through their culture of mutual trust and shared values.

We want to deliver and develop best practice through learning together and engaging with action research with Canterbury Christ Church University. We want our schools to serve their local communities through links with churches, each other and to develop wider networks enabling staff and pupils to flourish. Through developing leadership at all levels we want the pupils in our schools to become happy, successful, well rounded individuals who develop into lifelong learners.

I hope that this website helps you in finding out all that you want to know but if not, or if you want to find out more about how we work and what we stand for, please contact me directly at Unit 33, Folkestone Enterprise Centre, Shearway Business Park, Shearway Road, Folkestone, Kent CT19 4RH.

The Kent MAT Alliance is a group of 9 Multi Academy Trusts and a Teaching School with 38 primary schools across the county. We are a like-minded collective of CEOs who strongly believe we are ‘better together’; working collaboratively to improve the educational outcomes of all the children in our care. Formed within the Kent MAT Alliance is a Business Management forum where our colleagues responsible for the operational delivery of elements such as finance, HR and IT also work closely together to share best practice, ideas and the development of systems to improve the organisational framework of our respective MATs.

Our work to date includes a number of initiatives with direct impact on improving our individual and shared outcomes such as the sharing of resources, peer to peer thematic reviews and training. We are pleased to have the support of our Regional School Commissioner’s Office and are proud to be part of a collaborative partnership that is directly improving the MAT landscape in Kent and driving improvement in the education and opportunities of pupils in our schools
